2. Purpose
This RFP invites proposals from qualified individuals or firms to provide Chief Financial Officer (CFO) services to Sesame Flyers International, Inc. The CFO will primarily support our organization’s mission by overseeing financial strategy, ensuring compliance, optimizing financial resources, and providing expert guidance on financial planning and analysis. We seek an individual or firm with strong alignment with our mission and can add strategic value to our organization.
3. Project Overview
Scope of Services:
The CFO will be responsible for the following:
- Overseeing the organization’s overall financial strategy and performance.
- Managing and optimizing the budgeting, financial reporting, and forecasting processes.
- Ensuring compliance with nonprofit regulations, financial controls, and donor-restricted funding requirements.
- Leading annual audits and coordinating with external auditors.
- Developing and implementing internal policies to safeguard financial assets.
- Providing financial insights and reports to the Board of Directors and executive team to inform strategic decisions.
- Supporting fundraising activities with financial insights and accurate reporting to stakeholders and donors.
Deliverables:
- Monthly and quarterly financial reports.
- Annual budget and financial strategy proposals.
- Compliance and audit documentation.
- Weekly updates on financial health, risk assessments, and recommendations for improvement.
- Strategic and operational oversight of existing financial department.
4. Qualifications and Requirements
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management, preferably with a focus on nonprofit organizations within the New York CBO ecosystem.
- Expertise in nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP) and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software e.g. FundEasy, QuickBooks, etc.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for grant-funded programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work with Boards and executive teams to develop actionable financial strategies.
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
- Financial certification is great but not preferred.
- Continuing education in nonprofit financial management a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
5. Location
- This is not a remote opportunity. Success candidate will be required to work in-person.
