About Us:


Sessa Sheet Metal Contractors, Inc. is a full-service sheet metal contractor specializing in the fabrication and erection of galvanized, stainless steel, and aluminum sheet metal products for the construction industry. Our 22,000-square-foot shop facility is equipped with advanced machinery and specialized welding and lining departments. We have a bonding capacity of $4 million and handle an average yearly volume of $11 million. Our team consists of roughly 75 dedicated team members.

 

Position Overview: 


The Shop Manager will lead, direct, and coordinate management of fabrication, daily operations, logistics, staffing, proactive planning and implementation, budget, and risk management.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


The Shop Superintendent will manage the following activities:

  • Mange 12-18 direct reports (varies with work flow)
  • OSHA/MOSH compliance and the ongoing safety for shop related tasks
  • Management of time tracking system through digital software to include adding new job numbers when needed
  • The daily workflow of shop operations based on needs, project timelines, and inbound and outbound deliveries
  • Daily sketch reporting system (Wrike), with a very fluid workflow
  • Some database input and financial reporting in Microsoft Access (transfers)
  • Manage Asset Tracking system (Hilti Ontrack) for tools and assets going to jobsites
  • Negotiate pricing and procure shop and field supplies/material with vendors
  • Issue purchase orders (Pos), and enter receipts when POs are delivered to shop
  • Work directly with Project Managers and Foremen
  • Inventory management—ensure accountability of all shop supplies and contract materials
  • Re-enforce quality control for production and workers and instill best practices

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Basic knowledge of metal/material estimation for walk ins
  • Ability to continue to driving change and Sessa culture throughout staff and shop
  • Ability to innovate with technology, and continuously seek and implement ways to be more efficient in how we do business
  • Familiarity with SMACNA and basic duct fabrication/construction, as well as various machines and how they operate
  • Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks, and respond quickly to customer and superintendent requests
  • Working knowledge of blueprints and construction specifications
  • Relentless commitment to teamwork and client satisfaction
  • Ability to navigate and develop skills using Procore software

 

Qualifications/Education/Experience:


  • Proven history of managing multiple projects and customers simultaneously
  • Experience managing teams that consist of 5 or more team members
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in the commercial market preferred--experience and understanding of the sheet metal industry/environment highly desired
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • First Aid/CPR Training preferred but not required
  • OSHA 30 Training preferred but not required

Light to moderate lifting, up to 100 pounds, may be required. Regular, predictable attendance is required, including over-time hours as business demands dictate. Effective verbal communication is also necessary for expressing or exchanging ideas, imparting oral information to clients or the public, and conveying detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

     

    Work Environment:


    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a teammate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment includes moderate noise levels typical of a commercial shop manufacturer with large hydraulic machinery, forklift, and compressed air. The ability to work in a well-lit, confined area and sit at a computer terminal for an extended period is required. The ability to alternate between sitting and standing as needed is required. The job involves working in a shop environment, which may include exposure to varying environmental conditions.
