Qualifications:
Required:
- Associates degree in human services or a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a related field
- Ability to pass a drug screening and State of Alaska background check (no felony convictions)
Skills required:
- Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills
- Punctuality and consist reliability in reporting to work
- Understanding of being trauma informed and awareness of cultural differences
- The ability to:
- Be a team player, demonstrating motivation, exercising discretion and dependability
- Build rapport with clients and staff while maintaining professional boundaries
- Maintain confidentiality and treat everyone with dignity and respect
- Basic computer skills and fluid use of electronic communication tools
Job responsibilities:
- Participate in admissions team decisions, advising the team of pertinent information
- Conduct screenings, provide referrals to treatment, and facilitate ASAM level 0.5 Early Intervention psychoeducational substance abuse services at both the Palmer Correctional Center and Mat-Su Pretrial facilities
- Coordinate client care with counseling team, manage client cases, and provide supports which promote the physical, mental, and spiritual health of the client
- Participate in treatment team meetings, advising the team of any change in client needs and/or service availability
- Communicate and document client progress toward recovery goals
- Advocate for clients; educating them regarding substance abuse issues and it’s impact
- Work with clients to assess needs and potential barriers to success
- Remote work at local correctional facilities, in the community as well as work at the main office
