Job Description
The Maintenance Tech supports all company production machinery, plant equipment, and processes to achieve Free2b production goals and objectives. Support includes installation, modification, and preventive and remedial maintenance to ensure efficient plant and machinery operation for quality production with minimum downtime. This position reports to the VP of Operations and provides care for a food manufacturing facility in Lawrence, Kansas. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position in a family-friendly company. The ideal candidate would possess previous experience /expertise in food manufacturing processes with increasing responsibility.
Essential Functions
- The Maintenance Tech is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing all operational and maintenance activities, including corrective care, preventative maintenance, and predictive maintenance for various production equipment, including but not limited to scales, mixers, cookers, chillers, formers, conveyors, palletizers, and ancillary compressed air, water, steam, gas, electrical, pumping and control systems.
- Maintains all operating equipment in satisfactory condition. Schedules needed repair to have minimum interference.
- Consult with other departments regarding desirable modifications of existing equipment and facilities and the possible replacement of existing equipment, improving operations and reducing maintenance costs.
- Coordinates the efficient operation of facilities with the production manager.
- Plans and provides for an adequate supply and ensures control over spare parts and maintenance supplies.
- Analyzes cost studies of proposals for new equipment to secure reduced operating costs.
- Develops objectives and standards of performance for projects within the Maintenance Department required to meet departmental, production, and company goals and objectives.
Experience and Education Guidelines
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is acceptable:
- At least one year or equivalent experience in a related field, such as electrical equipment maintenance or mechanical maintenance.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Solid math and comprehension skills.
- Requires ability to use computers and read and follow drawing and equipment diagrams.
- Comfortable performing a wide variety of repairs and interventions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with outside resources and all levels of internal resources in both written and oral formats.
- Must have investigative and analytical skills.
You, ideally:
- Positive, hard-working, and self-motivated team player.
- The candidate's work history must reflect experience in a maintenance position in an industrial environment emphasizing electronics.
- High mechanical, electrical, and electronic aptitudes are required.
- Experience with pneumatic technology is required.
- Experience with HVAC and plumbing preferred.
- You have demonstrated the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to successfully perform physical demands of the job, including lifting, reaching, climbing, walking, stooping, pushing, and pulling 50 to 100 pounds.
- Experience in food manufacturing desired.
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
