Controller

Settlers Bank in Marietta, Ohio, has an opening for a Controller/Accountant. Responsible for the accounting function of the bank. Must possess a basic knowledge of bank accounting, be self-motivated and work well as a team player. Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferrable, but will consider two-year degree with at least three years financial institution accounting experience.

Job Description:

Controller duties include overseeing general accounting functions, including daily/monthly/annual closings and producing and maintaining financial records and reports. Must possess a courteous and pleasant manner and be willing to convey a positive attitude when working with internal and external customers. The position reports to the CEO/CFO.

Responsibilities:

Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and reconciliation of internal accounts

Oversee the preparation of financial statements, reports and budgets in accordance with accounting and regulatory standards and internal policies

Ensure internal policies and procedures are administered and followed to provide reasonable assurance that company assets are protected

Assist with the preparation of various regulatory reports

Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with audit requirements and timely resolution of any issues identified

Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and best practices in banking and finance

All other duties as assigned and any activities to support the success of the company

Maintain internal reporting systems to accurately report the financial performance of the Bank’s operational side
