The Civil Engineer I is a member of the engineering design team who works alongside a group of individuals to provide civil engineering services within a dedicated design team. A design professional accountable for supporting the team in producing accurate design and construction documents for our multi-site clients and supporting other team members in achieving team goals.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
This is a hybrid role out of our Downers Grove, IL headquarters or Dallas, TX office, but may be remote based. A highly collaborative environment that flourishes when individual and team contributions combine to achieve target goals and objectives. The workplace is dynamic, fast-paced, and flexible. Able to work remotely in a home office setting and manage time effectively with multiple projects and deadlines. Travel on an as needed basis (0-10%). Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to stand; walk; occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

The anticipated compensation range for the position is $60,000 - 70,000, is based on a full-time schedule, market and business conditions, and is commensurate on individual education, qualifications, and experience. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs assignments under direction and supervisory approval of others for all projects.
- Prepares complete, accurate and code compliant construction documents.
- Provides technical and creative design solutions that align with program intent.
- Assists Sr. Civil Engineer in the completion of civil engineering design calculations.
- Applies client’s program requirements and design criteria to existing buildings and structures.
- Responsible for maintaining project schedules, deadlines, and commitments for projects of varying sizes and complexity.
- Possesses a working knowledge of civil engineering principles, building codes, land development codes, and ADA requirements.
- Conducts project due diligence with municipalities to determine local zoning, engineering, land development code, and building code requirements.
- Accountable for resolving plan review comments from code officials.
- Assists the project liaison to code officials, outside consultants, suppliers, and contractors regarding questions to the construction documents.
- Adheres to CAD standards and follows assigned drafting protocol across all projects.
- Engages in personal and professional growth opportunities within Sevan.
- Accountable for timely completion of assigned projects.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently on simple to moderately difficult projects.
- Able to prioritize and work on multiple projects at the same time.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- 1-4 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and advanced techniques.
- Expertise in drawings, specifications, and building materials.
- Capable of completing moderately difficult engineering assignments with minimal supervision under the direction of a Sr. Civil Engineer.
- Ability to execute and coordinate multiple projects at a time, of various scope and duration, and can quickly change direction to meet aggressive deadlines.
- Strong ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the project team including management, project management, clients, client’s organization, contractors, vendors, and jurisdiction authorities.
