This is a part-time position for Servers at our onsite restaurant in a gated community and reports to the F&B Manager. Servers are the face of our onsite restaurant and responsible for our residents' and their guests' experiences, and their responsibilities include ensuring that the tables are clean and tidy when residents arrive, presenting menus, and serving food and beverages. Servers need to be quick on their feet and have a polite and friendly attitude; their ultimate goal is to provide high-quality service to our residents and their guests.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Arrive well-groomed, on-time, and dressed in the appropriate uniform.
- Work effectively under pressure and maintain excellent service standards with his/her tables.
- Possess excellent listening skills and an eagerness to provide excellent service.
- Provide a warm, friendly environment creating a world class dining experience for residents and their guests.
- Review the dining reservation list along with your section assignment.
- Setup for events, carry trays, serve guests, and clean up at the event's conclusion.
- Setup can include putting out tablecloths and place settings, arranging table placement and putting up buffets.
- Review and setup your section ensuring all dishes, silverware, and glasses meet the standards of our community.
- Attend pre-shift meeting for updates and specials for the day or evening.
- Possess complete knowledge of the menus and be able to answer any menu questions from residents and their guests graciously and with respect.
- Gracefully present, open, and serve bottles of wine in a professional manner.
- Know and abide by all policies and applicable state and local laws when serving alcohol to residents and their guests.
- Communicate any issues with food service or dining issues to the Restaurant Manager, Chef, and/or General Manager in a timely manner.
- Follow procedures for handling and storing food products in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Assist in the opening and closing duties for each shift and occasional dining set-ups (buffets, displays, etc.).
- Must treat all residents, guests, and employees with respect.
- Will be required to bill member charges using the point of sale system.
- Servers must always adhere to health and safety standards, even when closing at the end of the event, which may include breaking down the table set up and taking tablecloths and items to the laundry.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- SERV Safe Certification required.
- Flexible availability including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Duties during the event can vary based on the situation, but, in general, they must be able to focus on the job while staying on their feet and moving about freely, which can include bending, climbing stairs, and carrying items weighing 25-50 pounds.
- Must be able to use trays and tray jacks to carry food and beverage.
- Must be able to read menu items.
- Possess good communication and can follow directions efficiently to meet the physical demands of the job.
- Must be able to clearly communicate residents’ needs to other team members (Bartender and/or Managers).
- High school diploma.
- Minimum age 18.
- Must be able to work effectively with coworkers and other departments to support and maintain a level of excellence in food and beverage service for residents and their guests.
- Must be a highly self-motivated individual who can work with minimal supervision and interact with residents at a high level.
- Minimum 1 year banquet service in a club, hotel, or with a catering service.
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years high-profile service operation working in Ala Carte service.
- Have superior member service skills and the ability to maintain poise under pressure.
- Ability to stand 6 to 10 hours at a time.
- A positive attitude while on the job is also essential.
PHYSICAL / EMOTIONAL DEMANDS
Must be able to handle customer complaints calmly and respectfully when necessary. Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, and regularly required to lift and carry up to approximately 50 pounds; may be required to spend long hours on their feet. While performing the duties of this job, the server could be exposed to outside weather conditions if providing service during an outside event. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with increased levels during events.
