Job Title: Phlebotomist Location: Miami Gardens, FL
Salary: $14-$16 per hour
Schedule: Full-time, 5 days a week (8-hour shifts, day shifts)
Job Description:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood specimens from patients.
- Label, process, and prepare specimens for testing or storage according to laboratory protocols.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during blood collection procedures.
- Verify patient information and maintain accurate records of specimens collected.
- Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines in handling and disposing of biohazardous materials.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and address any concerns.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure efficient specimen collection and delivery.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for phlebotomy procedures.
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay updated on phlebotomy best practices and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.
- Certification in phlebotomy preferred (e.g., CPT certification).
- Proven experience as a phlebotomist or in a related healthcare role is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic laboratory procedures.
