Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Travel Registered Nurse (RN) with expertise in Pediatric Oncology to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a full-time, 12-hour night shift assignment offering competitive compensation of $2,050 per week. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric oncology and hematology, be certified in relevant specialties, and be ready to provide exceptional care to children and families facing cancer or blood disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients undergoing oncology and hematology treatments, including chemotherapy and blood transfusions.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment, recognize and address complications, and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Administer medications, including chemotherapy, following strict safety protocols.
- Collaborate with oncologists, hematologists, and the multidisciplinary care team to ensure holistic, family-centered care.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment processes, side effects, and home care instructions.
- Perform assessments, develop nursing care plans, and update patient records according to hospital policies.
- Participate in ongoing patient care conferences to discuss treatment progress and adjust plans as needed.
- Provide emotional support to pediatric patients and their families, assisting them in navigating the challenges of serious illness.
- Adhere to all hospital protocols, including infection control, patient safety, and documentation standards.
Qualifications:
- Active North Carolina RN license (or compact state license).
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
- APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses) certification is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Pediatric Oncology/Hematology nursing.
- Experience in administering chemotherapy and managing side effects.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Compassionate, patient-centered care approach, especially in high-stress environments.
