Working in Application Support means you'll use both creative and critical thinking skills to maintain application systems that are crucial to the daily operations of the firm. You'll work collaboratively in teams on a wide range of projects based on your primary area of focus : design or programming. While learning to fix application and data issues as they arise, you'll also gain exposure to software development, testing, deployment, maintenance and improvement, in addition to production lifecycle methodologies and risk guidelines. Finally, you'll have the opportunity to develop professionally -and to grow your career in any direction you choose.
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including :
- BS / BA degree or equivalent experience
- At least 5 years of experiences in Application or Production Support or equivalent experience in Application Development, or support role in SDLC processes
- Working knowledge in one or more general purpose programming languages, plus an interest in learning other coding languages and skills as needed
- Working knowledge of development toolset to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
- Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals
- Unix (prefer Redhat Linux), Oracle, Java knowledge at intermediate to advanced level
- Able to work on issues independently and communicate to management and required stakeholders, both internal and external
- Able to write and analyze complex SQL queries and script in various languages such as Python, Bash, Perl, Ksh
- Understand complex process flows and trouble shoot issues with partners like Development team and Infrastructure team
- Exposure to newer technologies such as Kafka, Micro services, Cassandra is preferred
- Exposure to Job Monitoring / Scheduling tools such as Control-M or Autosys preferred
- Monitoring tool familiarity such as : Geneos, Splunk, Grafana, App Dynamics, and / or Dynatrace preferred
- Experience with DevOps tools, AWS, Kubernetes or other Cloud technologies is preferred
- A sense of curiosity to future out problems, as well as self-motivation to drive those problems toward solutions
- Debugging skills and analytical ability to find the problem and provide resolutions in short timelines
- Sound knowledge of the ITIL or Incident, Problem and Change management for Production support
- Understanding of data security and controls
- Financial services industry / tech experience is a plus
- Ability to work outside of normal hours including participating in a changing / rotational on-call schedule that includes weekends and holidays (as per business needs) is required
