Position Overview:
The Project and Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in driving production
improvements, solving production issues, and managing various engineering projects. This
position involves obtaining machinery quotes, overseeing projects, ensuring compliance
with safety and industry standards, and collaborating with teams to meet program goals.
Additionally, the role includes mentoring team members and creating essential documents
such as SOPs, SWIs, and PFMEAs for new production lines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in sourcing and obtaining quotes for machinery or equipment needed in production processes.
- Process Improvement: Lead Kaizen initiatives to boost production and efficiency across operations.
- Analyze data and provide support to production teams, resolving issues beyond engineering where needed.
- Root Cause Troubleshooting: Conduct hands-on root cause analysis of problems related to production, equipment, engineering, and maintenance.
- Project Oversight: Manage projects, milestones, budgets, and scopes. Identify and implement improvements to ensure successful project execution.
- Process Control Development: Create and update Process Control Specifications and Flow
- Charts to optimize workflows.
- Equipment Installation: Support equipment testing at the OEM site, oversee installation, debugging, and continuous improvements at production facilities.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with operations teams to meet project objectives, solve process concerns, and address production challenges.
- Documentation & SOP Creation: Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) for production lines.
- Lead the creation of PFMEAs for new processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in plant meetings and provide solutions to enhance equipment performance and process reliability.
- Automation & Equipment Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot automation systems, manage new equipment installations, and coordinate modifications as needed.
- Equipment Evaluation: Assess and implement new process equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Project Leadership: Organize trial runs at all sites to ensure the efficiency of equipment and process implementations.
- Mentoring & Training: Coach and mentor less experienced team members, guiding them through troubleshooting, process improvements, and SOP development.
- Value Stream Mapping: Lead the development of Value Stream Maps (VSM) for production lines across multiple sites.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of US design standards (such as NEC, NFPA 70) with a focus on safety and system design.
- Hands-on experience with robotic systems, controls, Control Logix PLCs, plant applications controls, and automation technology.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to remain professional and courteous under pressure.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to self-mo&vate and stay on track.
- Experience in technical project management, with a logical and systematic approach to problem-solving.
- Willingness to work overtime and on weekends when necessary.
- Familiarity with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI).
- Capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills, capable of troubleshooting complex issues and offering practical solutions.
- Proficiency in Microso_ Office and AutoCAD.
- Ability to collaborate with external partners, including machine builders and system
- integrators, for the design, building, and integra&on of machinery systems
Education & Experience:
- Degree or diploma in Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering, Controls Technology, or similar.
- Equivalent experience as a maintenance technician will also be considered.
- 1-3 years of experience working in automa&on within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of safety systems and their design.
Salary : $90,000 - $125,000
