About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to support our students and faculty as an Assistant Librarian. This is a long-term substitute position that will provide opportunities for the successful candidate to make a meaningful impact on our school community.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students of all ages and backgrounds. A strong understanding of library operations and procedures is essential, as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Responsibilities will include supervising students in the library, assisting with collection inventory and circulation, and supporting student clubs and activities. The selected candidate will also be expected to establish effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, and to contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise middle and upper school students in the library
- Assist with collection inventory and circulation
- Support student clubs and activities, including the Middle School Book Club and Library Club
- Collaborate with colleagues to achieve shared goals and objectives
Requirements
- Completed or current enrollment in an MILS/MLS program AND/OR previous experience working in a public library or school library
- Experience working with children and young adults
- Ability to establish effective and collaborative working relationships with students and colleagues
- Appropriate technology skills to accomplish job responsibilities
