Job Description:
The Direct Support Professional is a part-time position that involves providing direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential settings or periodic programs. The role requires assisting with daily living activities, socialization, health maintenance, and skill development.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with personal care, housekeeping, recreational activities, transportation, community integration, shopping, citizenship, and other daily living tasks
- Provide direct support or assistance in accordance with individual service plans
- Accurately document progress and activity; maintain confidentiality
- Maintain healthy relationships with individuals, families, and case managers
- Report any incidents or concerns related to the safety or well-being of individuals being served
- May accompany individuals to medical appointments, administer medications, and monitor their health
- Perform daily and seasonal housekeeping as directed, and maintain a safe environment
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Six months of experience in human services preferred
- Valid driver's license in good standing (for Tennessee-based roles)
- All state-required training and certification completed within mandated timeframes
- Ability to perform physical demands of the job, including heavy lifting and transportation
