Job Summary- Evansville
As Music Therapist you will be responsible for setting goals on an individual basis and selecting specific activities and exercises to assist in consumer progress. Objectives may include development of communication, cognitive, motor, emotional and social skills. Some techniques utilized to achieve this goal are singing, listening, instrumental music composition, creative movement, guided imagery and other methods as appropriate.

A. Provides written documentation of services and submits documentation in timely fashion (Weighted Score: 10)
B. Maintains prescribed level of productivity (Weighted Score: 10)
C. Interacts professionally with consumers, parents, school staff and other providers (Weighted Score: 10)
D. Keeps abreast of current treatment technology, literature, practices, and regulations (Weighted Score: 10)
E. Familiarize self with Medicaid/insurance regulations (Weighted Score: 10)
F. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings as necessary (Weighted Score: 10)
G. Maintain working knowledge of functioning/maintenance/safety procedures pertaining to department equipment such as tools, audio visuals and musical instruments
Minimum Job Qualifications
A. Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy OR Completion of an approved Music Therapy Equivalency Program
• Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC)
• 6 months of experience working in the area of Music Therapy
B. Training Requirements During Employment: Must completed all assigned training, including successfully completing the IFSSA/DDARS waiver training module.
C. Specific Requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years of age per state requirements.
• Must have CPR and First Aid certifications
• Be free from communicable diseases as evidenced by an annual negative TB test or unremarkable chest x-ray.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with clients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Must be willing to accept supervision and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace.
• Must not have been convicted of a sex crime, exploitation of an endangered adult, failure to report battery, neglect or exploitation of an endangered adult or abuse, neglect of a child, theft, murder, voluntary or involuntary manslaughter, felony battery, or a felony offense relating to a controlled substance.
• Must be able to work with ill, disabled, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile individuals.
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate adequately in order to complete required forms and reports of visits and follow oral or written instructions.
• Must demonstrate the ability to provide services according to the individual support plan.
• Must possess an interest in and empathy for individuals.
• Must have a good knowledge of office support functions.
• Must be able to interpret apply and explain complex information such as regulations, policies or services; independently solving problems/performing liaison activities to deal with individuals or resolve conflicts in a work setting.
• Must have successfully completed all state and federal required training
D. Physical & Sensory Requirements
• Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
• Must be able to read, speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
• Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
