What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Supervisor position at Sevita?
- Manages the operation of the transportation department.
- Responsible for transportation services budget, tracks fuel expenditures
- Responsible for adherence to DOT requirements including, licensing registrations and inspections.
- Maintains statewide vehicle fleet to ensure safe operability
- Selects vendors for servicing, repairs and general maintenance
- Supervises a team of drivers,
- Provides necessary staff development and training to drivers to ensure transportation needs and requirements are met.
- Manages transportation of clients to and from the facility
- Responsible for transportation/driver logistics to support transportation needs of residents to attend outings, doctor’s appointments, etc..
- Plans daily and weekly routes, appointment schedules, and coordinates transport for field trips.
- Assists with transportation of clients as needed
- Client Care
- Recognizes signs and symptoms of abuse/neglect and reports to direct supervisor for follow up, including following mandated reporter protocols which under supervisor guidance may involve need for direct notification to appropriate state agencies
- Understands “Patients’ Rights and Responsibilities” and serves as an advocate for clients.
- Ensures safety and well-being of all residents during the course of any transportation provided by the department
- Complies with policies and procedures, regulatory, and legal requirements of practice.
- Ensures direct reports maintain compliance with all assigned trainings within established timelines
- Exhibits professional demeanor in dress and behavior; adheres to dress code.
- Demonstrates computer/technology literacy and proficiency, specifically independent ability to create and manage Microsoft Office Suite applications (i.e., Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Documents in an accurate legible and concise manner as required.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English including the ability to comprehend complex verbal and written instructions
- Able to independently complete and pass competency based trainings, document task/service completion, effectively communicate with colleagues, supervisors, administration and clients, as well as implement health care/behavioral protocols relevant to the position/job title.
- Will function as driver to support transport operations in response to any driver shortages and/or other emergent situations (e.g., company’s natural disaster response team).
- Assists in other areas of the program including activity, food service, and other duties as assigned.
- Attends in-services and related educational programs each year.
- Previous experience in medical transport essential for this role.
- High School Diploma
- Experience with adults and adolescents in disabled population in recreational or driving related field.
- Must possess three years of experience; supervisory experience preferred. Proficient in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and independent ADLs.
- CPR and First Aid certification,
- Valid Driver’s License
- Physical in the past 12 months, and Annual TB Test
- CORI, Drug & Alcohol Screening, Driver safety training
- Travel as needed
- Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move object
