Position Overview
Primary Function:
Responsible for assisting Director and Associate Directors in planning for the Conference, especially in processing participant applications. Chosen based on literary merit, as an extension of undergraduate education, the fellow will work on special projects to learn more about creative writing as a professional field. This position receives direct supervision in which assignments and instructions are clearly and regularly explained. Completed assignments are routinely reviewed by supervisor for correctness.
Position Appointment Details:- Career Band; NE6
- Non-Exempt hourly position
- Term position, 14 months
Position Description
Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
- Processing and tracking applications.

Database entry:
- Record organization
- Payment processing.
- Website and social media projects including video editing and YouTube publishing.
- Communication with various campus departments, and the conference faculty, staff, and participant writers.
- Preparation of conference manuscripts and tracking participant information.
- Preparation of participant packet materials.
Judgement Required:
Judgment and discretion as to the use of established policies are required to perform the essential duties of this position.
Machines & Equipment Used:
Computer, printer/copier.
Budgetary Responsibility:
Monitors expenditures against budget; prepares budget data for review/approval by supervisor/department head.
Personal Interaction/Communication:
- Internal: Accounts Payable, Cashier’s Office, SPO, University Bookstore, Print Services, Summer Conferences.
- External: Limited interaction with Conference participants, faculty, and staff.
Attributes of a Successful Candidate
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience:
Some office experience preferred.
Job Related Skills:
Excellent writing and editing skills
Reasoning and problem solving skills.

Working Environment:
Normal office environment.
Physical Requirements:
