Overview
Sewer Treatment Specialist is seeking a Wastewater Operator in Denham Springs, LA. We are looking for candidates with a valid Wastewater Operators license and possession of the following certifications as issued by the Louisiana State Department of Health:
- Wastewater Collection Certificate
- Wastewater Treatment Certificate
- Water Production Certificate
- Water Distribution Certificate
- Water Treatment Certificate
General Responsibilities:
- Inspect all equipment at each treatment facility on a regular basis for proper operation.
- Maintain proper levels of treatment chemicals at facilities to ensure proper treatment of water.
- Perform preventative maintenance duties such as changing oil, filters, belts, grease equipment, etc.
- Record and interpret flow meter, amperage, and voltage readings/data from equipment at each treatment facility.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical/mechanical issues and make repairs to equipment.
- Collect and record data from treatment equipment onto field log forms in a legible manner.
- Collect field water samples to ensure compliance with LDH regulations.
- Pull sewerage pumps and removing clogs.
- Dig up and repair water leaks.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
Valid Wastewater Operators license in Louisiana with the following certifications:
- Wastewater Collection Certificate (Required)
- Wastewater Treatment Certificate (Required)
- Water Production Certificate (Preferred)
- Water Distribution Certificate (Preferred)
- Water Treatment Certificate (Preferred)
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- TWIC card desired but not required
- Ability to work independently in the field
- Ability to communicate field issues to team members
- Dependable attention to detail and time management
- Ability to establish and maintain a working relationship with clients
Travel Requirements:
This position requires travel within a 40 to 60 mile radius.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This position requires frequent standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing. The employee must have the ability to stand and sit for an extended period on work sites. Must have the ability to climb ladders, work at heights, work in confined spaces, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
The employee must be able to use hands to operate and manipulate tools and equipment. This position requires very heavy physical exertion, including the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and exert over 100 pounds of force regularly. The employee must be willing to work non-standard and overtime hours as required. The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and depth perception.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, bright and/or dim light, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors. All required safety standards shall be adhered to mitigate risk from moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, heights, blood-borne pathogens, traffic, animals and wildlife, toxic or caustic chemicals, and other identified hazards.
