Safety Specialist

Essential Functions:

• Work with safety manager to manage safety, health, and environment on night shift.
• Oversee the Safety Policies and Procedures of the company during the night shift.
• Provide safety direction and advice to night shift management.
• Determine needed safety and health training, ensure implementation of that training and monitor it for effectiveness.
• Conduct EHS orientation applicable to new-hires and contractors.
• Monitor and conduct al safety inspections and surveys for the compliance with OSHA regulations, follow-up with recommended changes to see if they are effective.
• Work with Safety Managers in the areas of ergonomics, industrial hygiene testing for air quality, noise, and lighting to ensure they are within state and/or federal standards. Formulate actions to bring company into compliance when necessary.
• Investigate accidents and consult with other departments to eliminate a repeat accident or injury situation.
• Manage the night shift emergency response team.
• Maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) books and records.

Secondary Functions:

• Assist with environmental compliance ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
• Performs as the back-up for safety manager.
• Maintain and order various supplies of medical, safety, and personal protective equipment.
• Assist safety personnel on night shift with guidance and training when necessary.
• Perform other duties as necessary and/or assigned.
• Scheduling and conducting site evacuation drills.
• Assist with the OSHA record keeping, workers compensation documentation, safety records, and related files.

Specialized Training, Skills, Abilities, Experience:

• 2-Year associates degree in safety management, business, or a related field preferred.
• 2 or more years' experience in safety management in a manufacturing setting very beneficial.
• Knowledge in areas such as Safety, Training, and OSHA regulations required.
• Exposure to working in a diverse culture preferred.
• Bi-lingual Preferred.
• Strong communication, verbal, and written skills required.
• Strong computer skills required. (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Pay will be based off of experience.

Physical Requirements/Working conditions:

• Office environment with noise from computer peripherals such as printers and disk drives.
• Also works in factory environment with noise from manufacturing environment. Exposure to moving equipment, parts, and electrical shock. Possible serious injury when carelessness around equipment.
• Sometimes lifts, carries, or moves objects -- weighing up to 35 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $54,000.00 - $56,000.00 per year
