Sexton Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Memphis, Tennessee is searching for a skilled Surgical Assistant to provide the best care to our patients in a friendly, comfortable environment. Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Oral Surgeon during a variety of surgical procedures.
- Prepare treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Take dental x-rays of excellent, diagnostic quality.
- Review patient health history to ensure it is recorded accurately and completely.
- Serve as an infection control officer: follow infection control protocol, prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
- Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after surgical treatment.
- Provide patients with post-operative instructions for oral care following surgery or other oral treatment procedures.
- Record doctor notes and vital sign information during a surgical procedure or office consultation.
- Perform office management tasks that often require the use of a computer.
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
- Excel at prioritizing tasks in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- 1 years of Dental and/or Surgical Assistant experience is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Consistent professional appearance and attitude.
- Must be detail oriented, punctual, and patient-care focused.
- Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
- Motivated to grow and learn new things.
- Ability to cross train and perform front office functions.
