Duties:
- Assist the Site Continuous Improvement Leader with executing lean initiatives to achieve strategic and tactical continuous improvement goals by carrying out manual action items.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to execute lean/6S projects. This role will focus on manual tasks such as painting floors, installing equipment/hardware, etc.
- Safely use basic hand tools including tape measures, wrenches, pliers, knives, and other manual equipment for assembly, repairs, and troubleshooting for day-to-day tasks.
- Operate power and air tools such as drills, drivers, and reciprocating saws for fabrication and repairs. If applicable to the project.
- Apply basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions) for accurate measurements and calculations in tasks like mechanical assembly and equipment setup.
- Work closely with team members to identify and solve production inefficiencies through team-based problem-solving.
- Responsible for performing lean activities, manual tasks, collecting and analyzing data, executing actions, and verifying effectiveness of continuous improvement activities.
- Assemble mechanical components, install equipment/hardware, fasten components using bolts, nuts, rivets, and join wood pieces using methods such as nailing, screwing, and gluing, ensuring structural integrity.
- Safely lift and carry materials, ensuring adherence to ergonomic safety guidelines.
- Be open to learning new manual skills and technical processes to adapt to evolving production needs and continuous improvement efforts.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by utilizing and sharing knowledge of lean methodologies to develop and implement improvement initiatives.
- Assist Maintenance with hands-on general housekeeping, machine maintenance, and other facility projects as assigned.
- Assist Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Nondestructive Testing, Final Inspection, Production, and other key areas with special projects as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of manual tools, power tools, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with email, ERP systems, and MES software.
- Forklift certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively.
- Physical ability to lift and carry materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment is preferred but not required.
