JOB DUTIES :
Provide principle guidance and support to all machining trainees including, but not limited to :Work with management to prepare projects and tasks to meet assigned curriculum.
Allocate machines as necessary to keep all trainees on their specific learning track.Purchase tooling (if necessary) and materials, based on specific projects.Assist management with the ongoing development of training to continually improve our machinist training programsProvide direction to all personnel assigned to machinist training on 2nd shift including :Provide specific direction and instruction to train employees moving into the machine operator position.
Perform as the main point of contact, or focal point, duties for any personnel working in partnership with another machinist to enhance their capabilities as the need arises.Assess trainee performance and provide constructive feedback to support skill development.Facilitate or provide new hire onboarding for 2nd shift machining new hires including but not limited to Employee Development Program (EDP), high school apprentices, interns, etc. The following training will be performed.Safety training specific to the machining role
E-traveler trainingSeyer specific training such as how to accurately record and claim parts, fill out NCR's, clocking in and out of jobs, etc.Machining Responsibilities :
During times when trainees aren't available the trainer will report to the production floor supervisor to assist the shop in a machining capacity.Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and basic measuring instruments.Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations.Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.Set controls to regulate machining, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.Position and fasten work pieces.Maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.Read and interpret blueprints, planning's, sketches, and program descriptions for set-up and production of detail parts, assemblies and weldments.Set-up operations and load tools into machine tool changer.Perform in process inspections, on all parts.Interface with Quality Assurance personnel regarding inspection criteria and results.Provide feedback to programming and supervision regarding cycle times, program accuracy, and suggest changes to improve productivity and part accuracy.Conform to all requirements of Seyer Industries Quality System and any and all customer invoked quality requirements (AS-9100, for example).Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with 6S standards.EOE disability / veteran - We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate.
