Facilities Director The Seymour Community Schools are seeking a Facilities Director to have overall supervisory and administrative responsibilities for the upkeep and maintenance of the district buildings and grounds.
This position requires a high school diploma or the equivalent and a minimum of five years of qualified trade experience in a leadership role and three years of related post-secondary training or equivalent certifications. The ideal candidate will possess experience in facilities management in a leadership capacity including but not limited to knowledge of building electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, as well as knowledge of current grounds maintenance and custodial practices. Responsibilities include:
- Supervise and provide training and support for all district maintenance, groundskeeping, and custodial personnel.
- Supervise snow removal at each of the district buildings, and assist with operation of snow removal equipment, if necessary.
- Respond to and assume authority in unforeseen building and ground emergencies and notify the proper service providers and school administrators.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems involving electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Plan and coordinate all maintenance activities provided by contractors hired by the district.
- Assume the duties and responsibilities as the District Safety Coordinator, including scheduling required safety training sessions provided by our environmental consultant.
- Assist in the development of the buildings and grounds budget and the long-range facilities’ plan.
- Assist in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of maintenance and groundskeeping personnel, including student summer workers.
- Develop specifications for buildings and grounds projects and equipment.
- Prepare, file, and maintain required reports and records for all maintenance projects.
- Serve as the Asbestos Program Manager for the district.
- Work with the District Athletic Directors regarding the maintenance and repairs on the district athletic facilities and fields.
- Remain free of any alcohol or illegal substance in the workplace in compliance with Board policies throughout his/her employment in the District.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the District Administrator or Director of Business Services.
