The Seymour Community Schools are seeking a Student Services Administrative Assistant to support the work of the Student Services office.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess strong technology, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as experience working in a fast-paced environment that requires a high level of problem-solving and customer service skills. Experience with Powerschool or a comparable student information system is also desirable.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain an efficient and effective office that handles a variety of tasks for the administration, staff, students, and parents of the school.
- Perform clerical tasks of a varied nature. Many tasks will require a thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations of the school and school system and the exercise of independent judgment within the scope of the authority granted by the Building Principal.
- Distribute mail and handle correspondence of the office, responding to routine requests for information and typing, reproducing and distributing notices to staff, students, and parents that meet proper written English standards.
- Act as a receptionist, greeting visitors, answering telephone calls in a pleasant and efficient manner, and communicating effectively in routine, sensitive, and confidential matters.
- Register new students, secure appropriate student records, maintain confidential student records and transfer records for students moving to other schools.
- Assist with the creation of the Master Schedule and the scheduling process.
- Maintain an electronic current school calendar of events and keep informed about school and district activities.
- Maintain an efficient and well-organized electronic and paper data collection and filing system.
- Create forms, and compile and organize data and information necessary for the efficient operation of the office, the completion of required district and State data collections, and the completion of the School Counselors’ responsibilities. Complete all reports and assigned tasks in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Create and maintain a clean, attractive, orderly, safe, and efficient office environment.
- Recommend to the Building Principal when improvements are needed in office procedures or operations.
- Communicate to the Building Principal any unusual situations and assist in handling interruptions or emergencies, calling for assistance when needed.
- Display ethical and professional behavior in working with everyone who communicates with the office. Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, and demonstrating an effective work ethic.
This is a full time, 12 month position with health, dental, life, and vision insurance, as well as inclusion in the Wisconsin Retirement System.
