Position Summary:
CVS Health is seeking an experienced Principal Cloud Engineer to join our team and take on the responsibility of developing patterns and standards for open source/open systems software to launch CVS Linux derivatives. You will be tasked with designing and developing software components in close collaboration with our hardware engineers to make sure CVS infrastructure platforms operate reliably and efficiently. In this role, you will play a vital part in the continuous improvement and growth of our Linux-based infrastructure.
Additional responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement Linux-based infrastructure solutions to meet CVS Health's operational and business requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and document software patterns and standards for open source/open systems hardware
- Determine software requirements and evaluate potential software solutions to ensure compatibility with CVS Linux derivatives and business requirements
- Conduct research and analysis to identify the latest technology trends and apply them to enhance the Linux-based infrastructure
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure-related issues, including performance optimization, system tuning, and capacity planning
- Collaborate with peer groups, such as software developers and security teams to ensure the integrity, performance, and reliability of Linux-based infrastructure systems
- Establish performance monitoring and KPI's and perform analysis of Linux-based infrastructure systems to identify areas of improvement and implement optimization strategies
Required Qualifications:
- 10 years in Linux system administration and related tools, with a strong understanding of Linux operating systems
- 3 years' experience with Linux Operating System Engineering or similar role involving a strong focus on secure build patching and updating
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or Perl to develop automation tools and frameworks
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma 4 years relevant experience)
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$144,200.00 - $288,400.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
