Role and Responsibilities: The New Business Accounting Specialist reconciles all money received and applied to policy service and new business pending files daily and applies any additional money or policy cash values from existing policies to new business files only. Processes all incoming internal and external 1035 exchanges.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Prepare Checks for bank deposit by verifying amounts and signatures, total and balance all checks and vouchers for New Business and prepare a balanced cash report for General Accounting on a daily basis for New Business.
- Make corrections to any accounting transactions as needed on a daily basis in Ingenium.
- Apply all money that has been placed into accounts for new business applications and place money into accounts for other departments and apply any checks that cannot be applied in the Document Management area.
- Transfer money between new business applications.
- Process refund checks, requisition checks and void checks
- Screen request for policy loans, surrenders and dividend values for all types of internal policies and apply the value to pending policies.
- Request 1035 funds from outside financial institutions and apply funds received
- Process advanced premium deposit request on New Business applications including computing the calculations and typing the APD forms
- Process New Business Mail Queue
- Match and mail checks and Caseflow letters
Qualifications:
- Associates degree and three years of comparable work experience (i.e. business or customer service related) OR Five years of accounting related experience (a combination of college education and work experience totaling five years will be acceptable)
- Knowledge of SFB products and tax laws, preferred
- Basic knowledge of Ingenium and all NB administration systems preferred
- Basic PC skills
- Proficiency in the use of a calculator
- Basic typing skills (25 wpm)
- Good organizational skills.
- Communicate effectively both verbal and written
