Summary

Reporting directly to the Area Manager, this role involves servicing clients in a designated territory by conducting regular safety training sessions, safety inspections, and documentation reviews to ensure a safe and compliant workplace for clients. The Safety Consultant will prioritize the timely, effective, quality, and consistent delivery of services, adhering to SFI's Core Values.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Planning & Scheduling:
    • Develop and execute work plans to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
    • Manage designated territory and provide support in other territories as required.


  • Safety Inspections & Training:
    • Conduct regular safety inspections at multi-employer worksites and construction offices.
    • Deliver safety training in both classroom and onsite construction settings.
    • Facilitate equipment certification courses (e.g., forklifts, mobile elevated work platforms (MEWP), and earthmoving equipment).
    • Lead safety meetings on various topics for subcontractors and teams.


  • Client Support & Compliance:
    • Act as a resource for clients regarding safety concerns and OSHA inspections.
    • Assist clients with incident investigations and root cause analysis.
    • Ensure client compliance by updating safety programs, plans, and documentation.
    • Educate site personnel on safety standards and best practices.


  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Maintain and update inspection reports and compliance databases.
    • Submit monthly reports, including hours, expenses, and commission records.
    • Document and track violation abatement efforts.


  • Business Development & Promotion:
    • Promote company services to potential clients.
    • Provide feedback to enhance internal policies and procedures.
    • Participate in professional development and peer-to-peer training.

  • In-depth knowledge of construction and general industry safety practices.
  • Strong ethical standards with the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Analytical research skills to address safety standards and best practices.
  • Professional communication skills across diverse personnel levels.
  • Competency in auditing, presentations, and emergency response.
  • High attention to detail, flexibility, and collaborative abilities.


Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment & Physical Demands

This job operates in construction environments, including working at elevations, uneven terrain and in various weather conditions. Some work will take place in office and classroom environments. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, projectors, portable projector screens and may involve using site safety instruments such as tape measures, voltage tester and combustible/toxic gas meters. Physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs and ladders, crawling and carrying equipment of up to 50 lbs. The position also includes being exposed to various extreme weather environments. Some work will take place in the classroom or office setting which may involve being sedentary for prolonged periods. This position will involve prolonged periods of driving.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time non-exempt position with varying hours per week. This may lead to a full-time position. Typical days where work will be performed include Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and occasional Saturdays.
