Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Rehab
Job Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a rehab setting provides direct care to patients recovering from surgery, illness, injury, or other conditions. The CNA assists with daily activities, monitors patient progress, and supports the rehabilitation process under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physical therapist. The CNA helps to maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients as they work toward recovery and improved functionality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assistance:
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, and toileting.
- Help patients with mobility, including transferring from bed to wheelchair, walking, or using assistive devices.
- Provide support during physical therapy or rehabilitation exercises as directed by the therapy team.
- Patient Monitoring:
- Take and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and report any abnormalities to the RN or physician.
- Observe patients’ physical and emotional conditions and report changes in status.
- Assist with wound care, catheter care, and other basic medical procedures under supervision.
- Rehabilitation Support:
- Encourage patients to participate in prescribed therapeutic exercises to promote recovery.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout the rehabilitation process.
- Assist with patient positioning to promote comfort and prevent complications like pressure ulcers.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of patient care, including daily logs of activities, vitals, and any incidents.
- Document patient progress toward rehabilitation goals and report any concerns to the rehabilitation team.
- Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members (RNs, therapists, doctors) to ensure coordinated care.
- Participate in team meetings, offering observations and insights related to patient care.
- Hygiene and Safety:
- Ensure the patient's environment is clean, safe, and free from hazards.
- Assist with infection control procedures to maintain a sterile environment and prevent the spread of illness.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $19.76 - $21.11 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Work Location: In person
