Description

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • The Behavioral Health Specialist will be responsible for delivering behavioral health and resource and referral services to Level 3 youth and will facilitate teacher support groups.
  • Implement Trauma-Informed Resilience-Oriented Schools strategy protocols
  • Utilizes resources and clinical training to further promote social emotional learning.
  • Provide case management, counseling, and crisis intervention services for Level 3 students
  • Provide individual, family and group therapy, as well as case management, advocacy and referral / linkage to all clients.
  • Provide assessment, treatment planning, advocacy, crisis intervention, and referral / linkage services.
  • Provide group counseling services using prescribed group curricula when applicable.
  • Provide time limited individual counseling with emphasis on violence prevention skill building and problem resolution.
  • Conduct teacher wellness and resilience small groups
  • Work in a collaborative manner with Liaison, Violence Prevention Specialist, school administration and faculty to ensure best practices related to trauma-informed care are implemented
  • Manage all agency expectations for case recording, statistical, and other documentation on a timely basis.
  • Provide classroom workshops, teacher / parent / community trainings.
  • Coordinate clinical and case management services with school staff, teachers and parents.
  • Attend OJJDP and other required training as directed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requirements

Education :

  • A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or counseling is required. Master's Preferred
  • Clinical Licensure (LCPC, LCSW, or other), preferred
  • Experience :

  • Prior experience working with children and families in a school or community setting, restorative justice, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Other :

  • Demonstrates ability to engage complex and high-risk clients, respond to frequent crises, and engage parents.
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity is required. Ability to communicate and cooperate with diverse families, various professionals and community groups.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to develop professional partnerships.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage multiple responsibilities, maintain accurate records and prepare reports in a timely fashion.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
  • Understands and commits to the mission, goals and philosophy of SGA.
  • KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Competent in Microsoft Office tools and inputting services in an online database.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to frequently move inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to transport oneself to and from work sites.
  • Occasionally ascends / descends stairs.
  • Constantly moves to assist during program activities.
  • Frequently moves desks, chairs, tables and easels.
  • At times may be required to lift up to 25 lbs. for various classrooms and events needs.
  • Frequently moves in outdoor weather conditions.
