MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Provides individual and group counseling services to elementary, middle and high school students in Chicago Public Schools on the south and west sides of the city.
- Coordinates with school staff and administration, parents, and other partners in providing clinical services and care to clients.
- Provides crisis intervention and case management services, as needed.
- Manages agency expectations for all documentation, including but not limited to case notes and client assessments, in a timely manner.
- Develops professional partnerships with CPS school administration and behavioral health teams, and represents the agency with professionalism and integrity.
- Provides weekly reflective clinical supervision for masters level interns completing their internship requirements.
- Maintains awareness of climate, cultural and clinical issues at each school and provides on-going support as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Other: QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB: Education:
- Master’s Degree in social work or counseling, or related field required
Experience:
- Sensitivity to cultural diversity; ability to effectively communicate with families, professionals and community groups of diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability in providing comprehensive counseling services, including crisis intervention.
- Clinical approach rooted in a trauma-informed, child-development, relationship-based lens.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports.
- Knowledge of public/community resources that are helpful to clients and their families.
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to integrating an anti-oppressive and social justice-oriented lens to therapeutic approach, including client assessments and diagnosis.
- Commitment to the highest level of ethics, morals, standards, respect for others, empathy, and privacy of client information
- Excellent interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and support others in navigating systemic issues that impact our clients and communities.
- Experience and demonstrated understanding of urban, under-resourced educational environments and the systemic forces that impact them.
Preferred Requirements:
- 3 years post Master’s Degree experience working with children and adolescents.
- Experience working in a non-profit mental health agency
- Experience working in schools
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to transport oneself to and from work sites.
- Occasionally ascends/descends stairs.
- At times may be required to lift up to 25 lbs. for various classrooms and events needs.
Salary : $50,000 - $55,000
