GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

SGA’s Out of School Time programs provide programming to youth ages 11-17 within the City of Chicago with safe spaces to support with homework assistance, and exposure to art, sports, and other forms of creative expression. This position coordinates services from multiple locations in the southwest and westside neighborhoods of Chicago and requires working evenings and some weekends.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & OVERSIGHT
- Support with the coordination and oversight of summer and year-round Out of School Time (OST) programming within at least three sites on the southwest and westside neighborhoods in Chicago.
- Be the liaison for After School Matters and the Department of Family Support Services
(DFSS) for Out of School Time programming.
- Hire and monitor contractors to facilitate programming for youth for After School Matters
- Recruit and market programming within the community targeting youth
- Develop relevant programs and activities to engage and support positive youth development and leadership skills.
- Coordinate ordering supplies, collecting invoices, completing purchase orders and check requests, and payments as needed for contractor and youth.
- Collect attendance, develop work plans, budgets, and report on City Span and/or other databases as directed by funding agencies
- Complete other duties as assigned
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
- Develop, collaborate, and maintain relationships to enhance community engagement, resources, and support with program partners and funders.
- Support with recruitment and building strategic partnerships to ensure success of program outcomes.
- Participate in key community meetings and networks with a focus of building collaborative partnerships within target communities.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
- Credentialing and Education:
- A bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in youth programming
- Experience providing services with youth and families, crisis intervention, community engagement, and trauma-informed interventions.
- Bilingual preferred
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Sensitivity to cultural diversity is required. Ability to communicate and cooperate with diverse families, various professionals, and community groups.
- Must demonstrate leadership abilities, effective in youth and community engagement
- Organized and competent with Microsoft Office and electronic database systems
- Exercises discretion and independent judgment in executing tasks.
- Quality written and verbal skills
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time.
- Must be able to transport oneself to and from sites.
- Occasionally ascends/descends stairs.
- At times may be required to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to move in outdoor weather conditions.
