Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Analyst to support one of our departments in processing retroactive wages for employees following recent union contract negotiations.
For this project where precision, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills are key. The ideal candidate will have advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, a solid understanding of payroll processes, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze historical payroll data and wage rates to process retroactive pay for employees.
- Review and interpret the union contract to ensure proper wage adjustments based on agreed-upon rates.
- Process retroactive wages for approximately 325-350 employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
- Perform detailed spreadsheet analysis to identify discrepancies and ensure wage adjustments are calculated correctly.
- Utilized advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills to manage complex data, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis techniques.
- Ensure checks and balances are in place to maintain accuracy and compliance in all retroactive pay calculations.
- Work independently to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proactively seek clarification for any uncertainties, ensuring all tasks are completed to the highest standard.
Qualifications:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets (experience with pivot tables, complex formulas, and data analysis).
- Previous experience in payroll processing or related financial roles is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to analyze large volumes of data accurately.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address discrepancies.
- Self-directed, with the ability to manage your own workload and meet project deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, with a proactive approach to asking questions and seeking clarity.
