SGI Global is seeking a Research Analyst to support the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG), Behavioral Analysis Units (BAUs). Job duties include conducting literature reviews; assisting with determining relevant research questions for projects; assisting in determining appropriate research method and data analysis strategy to answer research questions; identifying and collecting information, collaborating with other personnel as part of a research team; building, editing and testing codebooks; analyzing data collected; providing support in write-up for results of assigned research project; and keeping research team updated on status of research projects.
Job Duties
- Assist in development of research questions relevant to proposed research projects in the BAUs.
- Assist in the design of research method and data analysis strategy to answer the research questions as a part of a research team and under leadership of the project's Primary Investigator (PI).
- Contribute feedback throughout the lifespan of the research projects, including design, implementation, and presentation of results.
- Collect data for assigned research projects using a variety of sources including, but not limited to, archival case materials, data sets, databases, and data collected from human research participants.
- Conduct literature reviews of peer-reviewed journals, academic publications, and lay sources to identify research than can be applied to operational needs.
- Provide summaries of relevant literature in support of operations.
- Update the PI, Unit Chief, and Research Coordinator routinely as to the status of the research projects in the BAUs to which contractor is assigned.
- Build codebooks and edit and test codebooks as needed.
- Assist and support Research Coordinators in data analysis/statistics, including: cleaning data, restructuring data, assumptions testing, and statistical analysis.
- Collaborate with other FBI personnel (outside of BAU) and law enforcement agencies for the purpose of data collection and other research support, as needed.
- Support PI in write-up of results for assigned research project(s), including writing and editing of reference guides, preliminary reports, and journal articles.
Qualifications:
- Education
- Master's degree. Education cannot be waived.
- Required Experience
- Possess education and/or work experience in scientific research, including research design and methodology, data collection, entry, and analysis, and research publication.
- Possess the ability to carry out multiple research projects and related tasks, to evaluate information and make judgments in order to organize, plan, and prioritize work activities.
- Possess initiative and work ethic to conduct research independent of close supervision and daily guidance.
- Possess interpersonal skills and work ethic to collaborate effectively and efficiently with research team and/or Principal Investigator (PI).
- Possess proficiency in data entry and statistical software programs, such as Microsoft Excel, SPSS, and other related programs.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent critical thinking skills.
- Possess education and/or work experience in scientific research, including research design and methodology, data collection, entry, and analysis, and research publication.
- Preferred Experience
- Possess education and/or work experience related to law enforcement, criminal justice, or another related field.
- Possess education and/or work experience in the social sciences of sociology, psychology, political science, and/or criminology (or other related field of study).
- Possess education and/or work experience related to law enforcement, criminal justice, or another related field.
- Security Requirements
- A fully adjudicated and current Secret clearance for access to classified information and classified areas.
- Lifestyle Polygraphy required.
