SGS Contracting Services, Inc., based in High Springs, FL, is a mid-size construction firm, focused exclusively on municipal water resource facilities and related utility systems. Our excellent reputation is well-known throughout the industry. Due to continued growth, we're seeking an experienced Superintendent for a long term opportunity to help continue our tremendous success.
Position Summary:
This position involves the total management of all onsite activities of construction projects, from mobilization (including pre-planning) through final completion. This involves all aspects of day-to-day planning, ordering/procuring incidental materials, coordination with subcontractors and other vendors, and managing/directing company employees. The Superintendent must possess an excellent level of proficiency of construction projects at water/wastewater treatment facilities, utility systems and/or other similar projects.
Essential Duties & Functions:
- This position requires strong ethics and excellent communication skills.
- Directly report to and regularly collaborate with Project Manager regarding day-to-day project activities, needs, schedules and other pertinent information.
- Develop ongoing task lists and make daily plans to accomplish project site goals
- Read, develop, and maintain working progress schedules
- Possess a strong working knowledge of construction documents (plans, specifications, etc.) related to utility work, piping, water/wastewater treatment facilities
- Interface with all project related vendors, consultants and client personnel.
- Interface with Project Managers on daily basis to gauge project performance, both financially and contractually. Provide real-time and accurate data to Project Managers to help maintain budgets and job costs. Have the ability to be direct with Project Managers and other personnel regarding budget overruns and provide insight to assist them in budget recovery.
- Maintain a safe, clean and orderly project site.
- Evaluate performance of crew members and other personnel .
Education & Experience:
- Have a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience on the construction of water/wastewater treatment facilities and/or related utility systems.
- Have a strong working understanding of general construction and be able to communicate on construction topics/methods.
- Basic administrative skills, including use of computer/tablet.
- Must be highly organized and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
Hours & Work Requirements:
The position is full-time (40 hours per week), whereas our typical hours are Monday through Thursday 7 AM to 5:30 PM. Some non-typical hours (normally Friday) should be anticipated. Weekend work is rare, but may be required from time-to-time. Construction sites are located throughout Florida, but normally within three (3) hours of the Gainesillve/Alachua County area. As such, traveling to project sites should be anticipated.

Bonus & Supplemental Pay: Bonus opportunities are available and will be discussed with each individual. Otherwise, this position includes monthly personal vehicle allowance (no company vehicle) and phone allowance. Fuel, travel expenses, and per diem are also included (per diem applies only to those traveling "out-of-town")
