Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Land Surveyor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting topographic survey data. This role requires proficiency in various surveying techniques and tools, including CAD, GIS, and GPS technology. The Land Surveyor will collaborate with engineers, architects, and other professionals to ensure accurate data collection and analysis for civil engineering projects.
A typical day looks like:
- Arriving to the marina on time and riding the crew boat to the project area.
- Collecting topographic survey data using Trimble GPS equipment as the construction work progresses. Understanding the data
- Regular communication with the construction crews throughout the day.
- There is an on-site field office with heating/AC - office work will include exporting and sending collected data and completing a daily report.
- Properly maintain and charge surveying equipment.
- Meet with on-site inspectors and answer basic questions about the ongoing work.
- Return to the marina on the crew boat.
Requirements
- This is a marine construction project setting with a significant amount of outdoors work - must be comfortable traversing uneven terrain and hopping on/off of boats and barges in a variety of weather conditions while holding the surveying equipment. This is a key condition for this role.
- Experience in construction surveying is preferred, although not required.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and other basic computer functions.
- Experience with CAD or Trimble software is preferred, but not required.
- Able to learn and understand GPS equipment computer software applications for land survey. Preferred: Prior experience with GPS equipment and related software applications, such as Total Station and GPS.
- Excellent mathematical, logical, and analytical skills: arithmetic, geometry (area/volume), algebra. Preferred: Trigonometry (or be trainable).
- Excellent critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team on various projects.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with clients and colleagues.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
