Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase by providing accurate cost estimates for various construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of construction estimating, project management, and the ability to negotiate contracts effectively. The Estimator will work closely with project managers, architects, and clients to ensure that all estimates align with project specifications and budgets.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other relevant documents.
- Conduct thorough site visits to assess project requirements and gather necessary data for accurate estimations.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop budgets and timelines for projects.
- Utilize software tools such as Bluebeam and HeavyBid to create and manage estimates efficiently.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adherence to budget constraints.
- Provide support in cost control measures during the construction phase to identify potential savings or overruns.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and correspondence related to each project.
Experience
- Estimates in Xactimate for the insurance industry.
- 5 years' experience in the field working in a TPA environment.
- Proven experience in construction estimating or a related field is essential.
- Strong knowledge of cost control methods and pricing strategies within the construction industry.
- Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
- Experience working on construction sites is preferred, providing insight into practical considerations for estimating.
- Proficiency in using Xactimate platforms.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build strong relationships with contractors and suppliers.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate estimations.
