At Shades of Green Nursery Landscape, we specialize in North Texas native perennials and drought-tolerant landscaping. Our nursery staff is the most knowledgeable team of plant people in North Texas, and they're passionate about sharing their love of gardening and the great outdoors with our customers. With our wide selection of perennials, well-adapted annuals, houseplants, seeds, trees, bushes and shrubs, gifts and decor, and gardening tools and supplies, people come from all over the Frisco and Celina areas to shop, learn, and enjoy our incredible garden centers.
Many members of our nursery staff have been with us for a long time, and we're excited to say our team is growing! A Day at the Nursery: Our Company Culture
We're Unique. Knowledgeable. Native. Our garden centers in Frisco and Celina are destination shopping locations, thanks to beautiful acreage, a peaceful vibe, and an enormous selection of North Texas native plants and gardening supplies.
Because we want people to love gardening, we do everything we can to take the mystery out of it. Our nursery staff is ready to answer questions about local horticulture, and we provide free workshops and newsletters to help area residents explore their gardening interests. Everyone has a green thumb (though sometimes it's buried deep in the dirt—we can help people find it!).
When you join our team, you'll contribute to an environment where team members work together to accomplish what needs to be done. The nursery staff is responsible for keeping the plants alive and creating a fantastic experience for our customers! Your responsibilities could vary from day to day and may include:
Technical Skills
- Understand our Five Star Reward Program
- Identify products to appropriately ring up product
- Understand the return process
- Understand the P&G process
- Understand the delivery process
- Understand plant material and hard goods
Customer Facing
- Assist customers with a service frame of mind
- Use the GUEST model: Greet each customer, Use their name, Establish rapport, Show a sincere interest, and Thank each customer
- Use the LEARN model: Listen to the customer, Empathize, Answer with how you're going to help, Respond and take action to fix the issue, and Notify your manager of the situation
Watering
- Keep the plants healthy and thriving—this is our biggest priority!
- Water plant material using the appropriate watering technique
- Talk to the Manager or Assistant Manager at the start of the day to find out what the watering priority is for that day
Inventory
- Label new products correctly
- Stock products in the appropriate location
- Use color blocking when stocking annuals
- Consolidate annuals to maximize space
- Ensure every annual, herb, and vegetable has a sign
Lot Maintenance
- Help the team maintain impeccable organization and cleanliness to create a great first impression for our customers
- Pick up trash
- Organize containers under tables
- Return carts to the cart corral
Miscellaneous
- Coordinate lunch and breaks with teammates to ensure only one person is on break at a time
- Use proper walkie-talkie etiquette
