About The Position:
Shady Hill School is looking for an experienced short-term Leave Replacement Lower School Science Teacher to teach kindergarten through second grade science from April to mid-June 2025. The science program, in keeping with the overall philosophy of the school, seeks to aid students in becoming independent thinkers and problem-solvers. Our curriculum emphasizes depth over breadth, and is based on inquiry and discovery. Hands-on activities are selected to introduce and reinforce concepts, and to lead to a deeper understanding. We value multiple perspectives, collaboration and an appreciation for careful observation and consideration of all aspects of a question. Our science program in lower school begins in kindergarten and continues through fourth grade. The curricula are planned in collaboration with the grade level teachers (Gradeheads) in order to complement the Thematic Study or Central Subject at each grade level.
