What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laborer position at Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center?
The laborer’s duties include routine manual work requiring physical exertion and a willingness to perform these tasks at times under adverse weather conditions. Employees in this class perform a variety of indoor and outdoor work, at times working alone or in a group (depending on location or nature of the assignment). The work involves the use of manual tools on routine tasks and occasional use of small power tools. The work is performed under continuing supervision and activities are subject to frequent inspection. Performs other tasks as required.
Responsibilities/Typical Work Activities:
- Receive, check, inspect and issue a variety of medical supplies, office supplies and medical equipment (IV pumps, suction machines and landing mats);
- Assist in loading, unloading, unpacking and storage of food stocked items and supplies;
- Maintain stock levels in supply closets on assigned units;
- Maintain written documentation of issued supplies in accordance with prepared unit par levels;
- Calculate weekly usage of stocked goods;
- Keep an organized and clean work environment;
- Loads, unloads, and lifts materials;
- Assist in the maintaining of records that enable proper stocking and re-ordering of supplies and food;
- Fill OTC/syringe requests as requisitioned by unit managers;
- Notify direct supervisor of excessive usage or unit request of additional stock or supplies;
- May participate in quality assurance (QA) monitoring and audits;
- May serve on QA subcommittees.
