SVPH Accounting Department
The Accounting Department supports the mission of Shaker Village by safeguarding the organization’s financial resources and providing guidance for the most efficient use of those resources.
Job Summary
The Accounts Receivable Clerk provides accounting and clerical support to the Accounting Department. This position also supports the organization by recording daily information into the accounting system, ensuring proper account reconciliations, and protecting the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Collects daily internal mail and cash deposits from each department
- Classes all transactions that come through Mobile Cause/Give Smart into QBO
- Process refunds through Card Connect at the direction of upper management
- Class all Shopify transactions in QBO
- Attend weekly BEO meetings. Maintain communication with Event Sales on Group Invoicing and Payment Receipts
- Produce invoices and send them to group leaders/contacts for school groups, wedding, and retreats once Event Sales Manager approves them
- Document shop transfers and farm transfers in QBO
- Month-end reconciliations of programs
- Monthly development reconciliation
- Cross train with other members in the department. Will include picking up reposts and counting cash for the daily bank deposit in the absence of the Accounts Payable Clerk
- Other duties as assigned or needed.
Skills and Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in accounting with one to three years of experience in accounting preferred.
- Restaurant, hotel, retail, and/or not-for-profit experience a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with accuracy and timely completion.
- Strong attention to detail; must be organized and dependable.
- Knowledge of basic accounting and cash handling practices.
- Must be a self-motivator and be willing to learn new skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Collaborative teamwork and problem-solving ability.
- Must possess a valid Kentucky driver license and have an acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Perform physical activities such as bending, stooping, climbing steps and walking.
- Frequently required to sit, stand and walk.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
