What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part time/Full time Assistant Bar Manager Neighborhood Bar position at Shakespeare's?
We are looking for an Assistant Bar Manager to help the manager with all aspects of our busy neighborhood restaurant/bar. You will help motivate our staff to provide excellent customer service. Assistant bar manager responsibilities include maintaining the restaurant’s revenue, profitability and quality goals. You will ensure efficient restaurant operation, as well as maintain high production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards. To be successful in this role, you’ll need management skills and experience in front of the house operations, including the sale of alcohol. We want you to know how to oversee the dining room, check-in with customers and balance seating capacity. We’ll expect you to lead by example and uplift our staff during busy moments in our fast-paced environment. Ultimately, you will ensure our restaurant runs smoothly and customers have pleasant dining experiences. You may have to fill in as a bartender and/or server when the restaurant is short staffed. We also have another location that requires some oversight.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily Front of the House operations
- Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction
- Respond efficiently and accurately to customer complaints
- Organize and supervise shifts- be able to cover both bartender and server shifts if needed
- Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity
- Ensure compliance with local and state guidelines regarding the sale of alcohol
- Manage restaurant’s good image and suggest ways to improve
- Promote the brand in the local community through word-of-mouth and restaurant events
- Recommend ways to reach a broader audience (e.g. discounts and social media ads)
- Train new and current employees on proper customer service practices
- Implement policies and protocols that will maintain future restaurant operations
- In addition, oversee a small neighborhood bar with the same owner
Skills
- Proven work experience as an Assistant Bar Manager, Restaurant General Manager, Hospitality Manager or similar role
- Proven customer service experience as a manager
- Extensive food and beverage knowledge including the sale of alcohol
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Dependable and reliable
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
- Drivers license is required
- Must have a vehicle
- Must live in Iowa City or Coralville
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
