Position Summary
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resource (HR) Generalist serves as the initial point of contact for all Human Resources services. Supports and coordinates HR activities, such as employment, payroll, compensation, labor relations, benefits, and training.

Human Resources Generalist - Columbia, SC
Position Summary
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resource (HR) Generalist serves as the initial point of contact for all Human Resources services. Supports and coordinates HR activities, such as employment, payroll, compensation, labor relations, benefits, and training.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of the HRIS and payroll systems.
- Assists with the development, implementation, maintenance and improvement of company programs and processes to include performance management, goal setting and evaluations,
- Assists with recruiting, interviewing, selection, orientation, and coordination of training of employees to fill vacant positions in all facilities as needed.
- Processes a biweekly payroll
- Assists with the design and implementation of programs, plant policies, and training to ensure that employees' needs are considered sufficiently to avoid the need for third party representation.
- Maintains and updates departmental metrics, applicant flow, workers’ compensation reporting, and other reporting needs
- Schedules and plans employee relations events
- Conducts training and informational meetings (i.e. open enrollment, human relations skills, policy changes, etc.)
- Performs basic benefits administration to include communicating benefits and assisting with employee inquiries
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree; 4 or more years of generalist HR experience
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
- In-depth knowledge of principles and practices of human resources
- Experience in staffing to include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, orientation, discipline and terminations
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations
- Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs
- Excellent computer skills – MS Office, HRIS and timekeeping software (DayForce preferred)
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including ability to speak and present in a group setting
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Willingness to adapt and be flexible
- Self-motivated with a willingness to work independently while also being a strong team player
- Union experience a plus
- Travel up to 25%
