Job Overview: Performs legal services for and on behalf of the Community as in-house attorney. Supports other attorneys in the areas of contract law, employment law, intellectual property and trademark law, government relations, gaming law, and legal research. Work, as directed by the Business Council or Deputy General Legal Counsel, on issues related to the daily operation of the Community’s government departments and enterprises, and to appear, as directed by the Business Council or Deputy General Legal Counsel, before all federal, state, and tribal courts (excluding claims against the
United States), government agencies, and legislative bodies.

Maximize Your Impact: The Responsibilities You’ll Own:
- Assists the Deputy General Legal Counsel with legal activities and functions for the SMSC at the direction of and in collaboration with the General Legal Counsel and Deputy General Legal Counsel.
- Reviews and drafts a variety of transactional documents and contracts for gaming and non-gaming enterprises and government departments.
- Supports other attorneys in the areas of employment law, intellectual property and trademark law, government relations, gaming law, and legal research.
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school required.
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota or licensed to practice law in another state with the ability to become licensed in the State of Minnesota within six months of hire.
- At least 3 years of professional legal experience required.
- Knowledge of legal principles and practices in the area of Federal Indian law, employment law, and commercial transactions preferred.
- Strong writing and legal research skills required.
- Capacity to handle and lift up to 25 lbs. as needed.
