Organization Overview: Shakori Hills Community Arts Center (SHCAC) is a North Carolina based non-profit organization that began out of love for and operation of the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival (SHGRF). Now two decades later, SHCAC has become more than a co-hosting organization for the festival – it’s a dynamic organization with its own programs and community, including Hoppin’ John Fiddlers’ Convention, Roots in the Schools, and workshops. We also occasionally partner with local organizations as a venue to host their events.
Job Position: Program Coordinator/Operations Manager
Reports to: Board of Directors and/or SHCAC Director
Position Overview: The Program Coordinator/Operations Manager position is a year-round, full time salaried position averaging 30 to 35 hours per week. Your schedule will be heavy during event times and lighter during off-season months. Program Coordinator/Operations Manager is best filled by someone who is a strong communicator. They are a detail-oriented, community-focused person skilled in navigating interpersonal relationships and above all, can self-direct.
Program-Related Responsibilities and Duties:
- Coordinate Educational and Arts programming.
- Coordinate and oversee SHCAC Event Marketing.
- Assist in the coordination of the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance (SHGFR), including overseeing alcohol revenue and other Fundraising activities, collaborating on the Festival’s Programming content; and building community through Outreach.
- Identify funding sources and coordination of grant writing to support programs and operations.
- Seek out sponsorships for SHGRF and other SHCAC programs.
- Send a monthly e-newsletter and build up the subscription base through community activities.
- Oversee, maintain and enhance the SHCAC Website, Social Media and Marketing Materials.
- Lead Volunteer Coordination, Work Leadership and Recruitment on a year-round basis.
- Interface with the local community to maintain positive relationships and raise awareness of SHCAC programs.
- Keep abreast of community events and local government policies that impact the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center.
- Raise awareness of SHCAC resources and mission.
- Serve as staff liaison to the SHCAC Board.
- Work with SHCAC Board, facilitators/coordinators and SHGRF staff to ensure all SHCAC programs are on task, on schedule and needs are fulfilled.
Financial and Administrative Operations:
- Work with SHCAC Board and Finance Administrator to create and manage budgets, provide receipts, payroll, and financial transaction information for daily bookkeeping to the SHCAC Book-keeper and annual filings/reports.
- Pay bills.
- Obtain event and county permits, licenses and maintain registrations.
- Ensure all insurance policies and permitting remain effective and requirements are met.
- Oversee daily operations: phone messages, emails, calendars, file maintenance, etc.
- Manage donors, including: acknowledgement, commemoration and expansion of donor pool through outreach and community involvement.

- Able to be Proficient in: Google Drive, Microsoft Excel (or related programs), Word (or related programs), SquareSpace, Square POS, Quickbooks, and marketing software
- Able to be physically active for extended periods of time and lift at least 35 lbs.
- Knowledge of non-profit corporate operations
Compensation:
- Commensurate with experience and skills, salaried equivalent (range) of $20-$30/hour.
