Weighmaster & Office Clerk
Responsibilities
- Determine status of inbound train (arrived), outbound (pulled)
- Inspect current yard conditions
- Complete reports: Morning report, daily track report, bad order report
- Inspect inbound train documenting all damages; accompany with a clean photograph for each defect found
- Organize and file daily paperwork
- Plan for shift meeting/report
- Check real time reports, planning the current shift also assisting with the next shift planning
- Follow proper out-gate procedures
- Coordinate the placement of the cars with the local conductor
- Communicate to the crew the tasks for the day
- Promote safety by following all company rules and report violations and unsafe practices to appropriate management
- Perform other routine duties and able to assist the team as needed
Skills & Specifications
- Must be professional and courteous in all written and verbal communication
- Accurate typing speed of at least 35 WPM
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to adapt and think quickly with detailed reasoning capabilities
- This position requires a flexible schedule and physical fitness
- Ability to communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner at all levels of the organization
- Conform with and abide by all work regulations, policies, procedures, instructions
- Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment
- Ability to work well and get along with others
- Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time
- Ability to work alone and/or with minimal supervision
- Ability to train other employees as necessary
Requirements
- Position requires outdoor work year round
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Must be able to work safely and follow all safety rules, department procedures, and directives
- Must possess valid driver's license.
