About the Job
The Sports Camp Head Coach is a member of the Administrative Team in the Summer and is responsible for managing the well-being of campers (Kindergarten through 6th grade) in JCamps sports programs. It is expected that the Sports Camp Unit Head will understand and promote the Shalom Austin and JCamps missions and objectives while providing the best camp experience for the campers and their families.
You’ll wow us by masterfully performing the following key duties and responsibilities:
- Be active and engaged with the campers and staff in JCamps sports camp.
- Collaborate on special event, and theme days.
- Manage and conducts evaluations of staff in sports camps.
- Complete administrative tasks such as written accident and incident reports.
- Communicate with parents, including phone calls and follow-up regarding incident and accident reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Eligible candidates must be at least 18 years old. Eligible candidates also must have graduated from High School or obtained a GED by the start of camp. Experience with Elementary Aged children (grades K-6) is required. JCamps staff are required to pass all criminal history background checks, including an FBI fingerprint check. They must also obtain a current CPR and First-Aid certification. A degree in childhood education/psychology/therapeutic recreation or a sports related field is preferred.
- The Sports Camp Head Coach is based out of the Youth and Teen Office but will be expected to execute daily responsibilities throughout Shalom Austin’s campus. They will organize their own daily schedule, responding to the needs of the campers and staff in the programs they oversee. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds. The Sports Camp Head Coach must have the ability to be outside and handle Austin summer heat.
- This position is a seasonal full-time position. The expected hours are from 8AM-4PM Monday through Friday, with opportunities to work until 5:30. Seasonal work begins June 1 and goes through August 1 with opportunities to work through August 15. Hours are subject to change based on the camp’s needs.
