Principal Responsibilities:
Shalom Orlando is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that enhances the quality of Jewish life in the greater Orlando area and around the world through philanthropy, education, social services, culture, spirituality, and total wellness. Shalom Orlando is comprised of The Roth Family JCC and the Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando, serving as the center of Jewish life in Central Florida.

JOB SUMMARY
This is a full time position of major responsibility at the level of Department Director. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Director of Facilities Management will assume overall responsibility for the engineering, housekeeping and janitorial functions and will supervise the maintenance staff. The Director of Facilities Management is responsible for the safety, cleanliness, preventive maintenance and repair of the building, grounds and equipment of Shalom Orlando and room usage including setups and equipment needs. Priorities are (1) health and safety, (2) cleanliness, cleanliness, cleanliness, (3) everything working and in good repair, (4) preventative maintenance, (5) efficient-cost effective operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervise maintenance staff to insure that all designated tasks and daily routines are done in a manner that represents the highest standard possible.
Develop and implement policies and procedures around preventative maintenance in all systems and operations of building utilization to maintain a high functioning facility.
Inspect daily all rooms to ensure safety and cleanliness.
Review all work priorities and ensure fulfillment of building needs in consultation with Executive Director. In addition, ensure smooth operations through the maintenance, repair, and installation of all necessary equipment to effectively operate a smooth physical plant.
Develop preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment, hardware, plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, boilers, pools, filtration systems, etc. This should include written protocols with verified schedules of repair, and replacement for all components.
Implement the facility schedule in coordination with the Rooms Reservation Coordinator.
Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operation standards and ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA and other regulatory agencies.
Ensure contract with housekeeper, landscapes, pest control, waste management, and others are met to the standards of Shalom Orlando.
Responsible for repair and refurbishment of the Shalom Orlando facility which includes painting, striping, and refinishing of gym and racquetball floors, etc.
Coordinate and implement program that support functions which includes all room set up and breakdowns.
Supervise and maintain all grounds upkeep which include but not limited pool, pool deck, tennis area, planting flower beds, and irrigation system, etc.
Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
To become part of the Shalom Orlando management team and assist in agency-wide programs and activities that benefit the organization as a whole.
To do any other reasonable functions as assigned by the Executive Director or his designees for the benefit of the Agency.
Reacting to change productively, handling other essential tasks as necessary and general responsibilities of all Shalom Orlando staff which includes participation in staff meetings and participation in programs or events as required or other staff team functions.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college; or six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellence in customer service requires the ability to deal effectively with people in a variety of situations in person or in writing. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, building plans, blue prints, schematics and procedure manuals. Ability to write routing reports and compose correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with groups of customers or employees of Shalom Orlando.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable law. Responsibilities include interviewing, recommending hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance/rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Ability to use e-mail, Excel, Word, Microsoft Office.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand and walk, move throughout the building and grounds including mechanical areas and the roof.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision and distance up to 75 feet to visually inspect rooms, walls, ceilings, etc. The employee shall have hearing capacity within normal limits.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Working conditions are primarily a general office setting but also include all facilities of the building and grounds, including landscaped and grass areas, mechanical areas, athletic facilities and childcare rooms and any other areas owned and/or operated by Shalom Orlando
