Key Responsibilities
As a Mill Machine Operator/Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing milling operations and ensuring the successful completion of projects. Your duties include:
- Mill Machine Operation:
- Operate asphalt milling machines with precision to remove old pavement and prepare surfaces for repaving.
- Adjust machine settings to achieve desired depth, width, and smoothness of milling cuts.
- Monitor equipment performance and make real-time adjustments as needed.
- Crew Leadership:
- Supervise and coordinate the milling crew, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines.
- Provide training and guidance to crew members on proper milling techniques and safety practices.
- Communicate project plans, updates, and expectations clearly to the team.
- Site Management:
- Conduct pre-project assessments to determine milling requirements and identify potential challenges.
- Ensure the milling area is properly prepared and traffic control measures are in place.
- Collaborate with project managers, paving crews, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of milling equipment.
- Conduct basic maintenance and cleaning to ensure machines are in optimal condition.
- Report any mechanical issues promptly and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce company safety policies and ensure the crew follows all safety protocols.
- Remain vigilant to potential hazards and take proactive measures to mitigate risks.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate for the Mill Machine Operator/Foreman position should have the following qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of one year experience operating asphalt milling machines.
- Minimum of one year of leadership experience in the asphalt paving or construction industry.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of milling operations, including equipment capabilities and best practices.
- Ability to interpret project plans, specifications, and milling depths accurately.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage a team effectively.
- License Preferences:
- A Class A - Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is highly preferred but not required.
- Candidates with a CDL will have an advantage and additional opportunities for equipment transportation.
- Work Ethic and Attitude:

- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat.
