Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the construction process by accurately assessing project costs and ensuring that our bids are competitive and profitable. This position requires strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of construction management, and the ability to negotiate effectively with contractors and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for construction projects.
- Utilize software tools such as PlanGrid, Fieldwire, BuildingConnected, Timberline, etc. to view bids, and create detailed estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop project budgets and timelines.
- Negotiate prices with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
- Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and gather necessary data for accurate estimating.
- Prepare detailed reports outlining estimates, including breakdowns of labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
- Maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to stay informed about market trends and pricing changes.
- Support the project management team throughout the construction process by providing ongoing cost analysis.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction estimating or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using estimating software such as BuildingConnected and PlanGrid.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build strong relationships with contractors and suppliers.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate cost estimation.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with project management processes is a plus.
- A background in construction site operations is advantageous.
Preferred but not required: Construction Management Degree or a Certificate such as CPE, CCE/A, and ICEAA.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
