Responsibilities
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented International Underwriting Manager to lead our contracting and underwriting efforts within the International Legal Department. This role is essential to supporting our rapid growth in international deal volume and personnel, enabling our legal and sales teams to better serve internal and external clients.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in international trade finance, due diligence, and risk management—along with proven leadership experience. Fluency in English and either Spanish or Portuguese is required.
- Oversee underwriting operations including document preparation, KYC, due diligence, and related risk management functions for international accounts-receivable financing (e.g., factoring).
- Manage all phases of the contracting cycle: application, contracting, due diligence, security interest perfection, and implementation.
- Coordinate and follow up on documentation requests and operational communications.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of operational processes including account setup, contract execution, deal implementation, and account servicing.
- Lead and coach a high-performing team of bilingual underwriters (Spanish and Portuguese), ensuring consistent accuracy and efficiency.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of underwriting procedures and risk management practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of department goals.
Qualifications
- Significant managerial experience in underwriting, risk analysis, or due diligence related to international trade finance.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and research using government and legal platforms.
- Experience working in a legal, finance, or trade compliance environment.
- Comfortable communicating with clients and internal stakeholders across cultures and time zones.
- Results-driven with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fluent in English and Spanish or Portuguese (both verbal and written).
