POSITION: BUS DRIVER
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Drives district buses to transport pupils to and from school and make additional trips upon assignment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Ability to qualify for a license to drive a school bus. Able to pass a physical, including drug and alcohol test.
- Experience: Past experience in working with children desirable.
- Ability: To read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
To add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
To perform operations using units of US money and weight measurements, volume and distance.
To apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
To work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students.
To read and understand maps.
To communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
To perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Trustees policies.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Drive district buses to transport pupils to and from school.
- Drive district buses to transport students upon assignment.
- Keeps the interior and exterior of the bus clean.
- Carries out safety inspections of the bus as required by law.
- Reports unsafe bus conditions to the Director of MOT immediately.
- The driver will control the actions of students on the bus and keep accurate count of students transported daily.
- Fuels the bus as required.
- Reports when the bus needs to be serviced.
- Must dress in a neat manner and refrain from any unnecessary discussions with passengers.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee bust occasionally lift, push or pull up to 75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and peripheral vision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees and occasionally will walk on slippery surfaces. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with the public and other workers. The employee has direct responsibility for the safety and well-being of others. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud to where you have to raise your voice to be heard.
